What is the diference between domain and hosting? Thanks?

Please explain to how to make and use domain for simple network. and in a complex network ex.use for WAN.

What is the webhosting? is it the same with domain? if i have a domain can i create my own hosting? or may be i am wrong about this question please explain it to me. Thanks for your help all about domain. thanks.

What is the diference between domain and hosting? Thanks?

Let me see if i can answer your web hosting question easily. Web hosting is really a computer hooked up to the internet in a building with a very fast connection that holds your website on it. Usually to make this happen you get %26quot;web hosting%26quot; from a company that offers this service. That company has a computer in a building that is hooked up to a very fast connection and sells you space on that computer, which is called %26quot;web hosting%26quot;

A domain is a name that is like a car. you can tell it to go anywhere you want. When you purchase a domain name it will require you to tell the internet how to get to your webpage if someone types in your domain in their web browser. If you have chosen a web hosting company to hold your website on, they will provide you with something called a nameserver which is really similar to a phone number. you will enter those numbers they provided you into the nameserver area of the domain name (where you purchased the domain) and that will tell anyone that types your domain in their browser to get your webpage at the hosting company%26#039;s computer your bought space from.

I hope this answered your question on a simple basis. If you are also in need of hosting I recommend using Heath Hosting. I have had NOT one problem with them. They have great technical support and very easy to work with. Their prices are great too!

What is the diference between domain and hosting? Thanks?

You have an email address for eg abd@yahoo.com, here YAHOO.COM is the DOMAIN NAME. Website hosting means there are computers working 24 by 7 with an Internet connection which stores info abt the website it is hosting. For example if you want your own website you need a PC with 24 by 7 Internet connection and should be on all the time. Well the cost of maintaining is high so ppl ask others to do the same job. The one who do that works host the website.that means web hosting. Hope that answers your question and gives you a better clarification.

Other Replys:Domain or (Domain Name) is a way of redirecting or indexing an name to a IP Address of a web server conected to the internet)

EXAMPLE

Yahoo.com ---%26gt; points to ---%26gt; 145.56.345.56

The Domain is pointed to the PC where we tell it to point to and we register that relationship with Network Solutions (the webs governing body). Thus it gets known and redirected throughout the internet (much like putting in a change of address card at the post office)

Hosting is renting space on that same web server where your Domain name is pointed so you can place many web pages there. Typically a fee for both services.

the best i ever see for subdomain name, e-mail redirection and all is cjb.net :) after you can chose to redirect it to a webpage ex:

www.rnsoft.cjb.net is redirected to home.doramail.com/rnsoft/index.html ...

they%26#039;re no pub in doramail.com but ads on cjb.net

you can add this to the main page to prevent pub :

%26lt;body onload=%26quot;load()%26quot;%26gt;

please whait redirection ...

%26lt;/body%26gt;

%26lt;sctipt language=%26quot;javascript%26quot;%26gt;

function load()

{

if (top.location != location)

{

top.location.href = %26quot;http://home.doramail.com/rnsoft/lang.ht...

}

What is the diffrence between Domain Name Hosting and Domain Name Forwading ! Please Help Me !?

What is the diffrence between Domain Name Hosting and Domain Name Forwading ! Please Help Me ! Please tell about the merit and demerit of both ! Why .org and .info Domain Name are cheaper than .com .net etc ! ..

What is the diffrence between Domain Name Hosting and Domain Name Forwading ! Please Help Me !?

.org and .info names are cheaper because they aren%26#039;t as effective as .com names--think about it, when you don%26#039;t know someone%26#039;s domain name, you just put business.com into the browser and 9 times out of 10 you will be right. But when people use all those %26quot;other%26quot; ones, like even .net, it makes it harder to guess what someone%26#039;s domain is. Using .com is just more efficient and effective than all the other cheaper ones, so it%26#039;s the best investment for your money, even if the others are cheaper.

.org names are usually used for non-profits and other non-business type sites, also.

Domain hosting is just that; the company you purchase your domain name from actually %26quot;hosts%26quot; your website and you pay them so much a month for that. BUT, you can buy your domain name from one place and your webspace from another, so then you FORWARD your domain name to the webspace. Like, for instance, if I bought www.iloveyou.com. Then I set up a space at www.freewebspace.com/joeschmoewebsite/we... can forward the domain name so someone can just type in www.iloveyou.com and it will connect to www.freewebspace.com/joeschmoewebsite/we...

What is the diffrence between Domain Name Hosting and Domain Name Forwading ! Please Help Me !?

Hosting, you intend to put up a web site that you host on your server. You point the domain to a 2 servers such as

N24.mysite.com

N25.mysite.com

Forwarding a domain, you have yoursite.com %26amp; have it go to my site if you wish? :) Any site. It forwards to the url you specify.

Michael

http://webmasterautomation.com

Other Replys:With Domain Name Hosting, you pay for someone to provide space for you to upload your webpages. With Domain Name Forwarding, you are paying only for the Domain Name while you host your pages elsewhere, and anyone browsing to the domain name gets forwarded to the place your site is hosted. The latter is cheaper; for example, if your ISP provides free web space but you want a custom domain name, you can buy the domain name and have traffic forwarded.

.com domain names are more expensive because that%26#039;s the established suffix used by most commercial enterprises. If it%26#039;s important for your site to have the most professional-looking URL, you might want to pay extra for the .com. .org is for non-profits, and some of the alternate suffixes have varying reputations. Some are even blocked by some ISPs because they are havens for spammers.

Other Replys:Call the number or email these guys. They are there 24/7 and are very helpful.

Website Questions: Domain vs. Hosting?

I want to setup a website, what is the difference between getting a domain vs. hosting?

Website Questions: Domain vs. Hosting?

yes off course. Domain means simply the name we are using like yahoo.com or answers.yahoo.com. but hosting means uploading the files we are created for wesites, all the pages. so when we type name we will get hosted files, which are pages

Website Questions: Domain vs. Hosting?

Hosting is somewhere to put your files.

A domain is a human friendly name to identify that place.

Many hosting packages will either throw in a free subdomain (you.example.com for instance), or including a domain in the package - but you do need both.

Other Replys:A domain is the URL you type in the address bar to go to your website hosting...it%26#039;s the equivalent to your house being the hosting and your address being the domain.

Other Replys:the domain is the thing after what you type for example .com or .org

host is the thing that hosts your site, they allow you to create a proffesional one and submit it to search engines like google ( i think so but domain is correct ,cant really explain what a host is)

Other Replys:Domain is the address of your website. i.e www.something.com part. Hosting is the process of putting up a site to a particular domain.

Other Replys:You can find out step by step guide on how to create a website at http://oktutorial.com/webdesign.htm

You can even earn from adsense using your website.

Other Replys:I would like to suggest following webhosting which I use, they are excellent. You will get FREE DOMAIN.

it%26#039;s very simple, you can find some cheap hosting with Cpanel.

They will not design the site for you, but Cpanel will let you install many templates, or software like wordpress that can be easily customised to your liking.

It%26#039;s really quite easy and you will figure it out very quickly once the hosting company has set up your account and sent you the link to your admin page.

Other Replys:Normally domain , hosting and design companies are separate entities. So they do not provide everything.

For buying domain and hosting, you can refer to this page:

http://www.marketingtreasurehunt.com/blo...

You should not be worried about this too much as it is very straight forward.

As for website design, you can get someone to do it for you or buy some ready templates and modify. Sometimes, they provide customise template as well. A template seller is

templatemonster.com

As for chat room, you need to find script to run it on your server.

A banners, that is simple if you know HTML (google to understand what is that). It is a few second work.

Suggestions for low cost website domain and hosting?

I am trying to find a low cost website host and domain seller for a non-profit organization. A local webdesigner donated their services and created us a beautiful, professional site and did it in Dreamweaver so that we can update it from our office without much skill. So the hosting must be able to work with Dreamweaver.

www.moonfruit.com

the cheapest webpage deal is $4.49 per month! Has great stuff and you don%26#039;t need html...

Other Replys:http://www.2mhost.com/personal-website-h... looks like it might be good for you -- $2.75/mo plus $8.75 domain registration/yr.

Works with Dreamweaver too.

I hope this helps!

Other Replys:I use http://www.crucialwebhost.com for my organizations. They are non-instrusive with banners (not even a 1/2 inch on the top of the site) and it is only $5.99/yr for the domain registration and that comes with the free hosting. Now, you can pay a little more and get the banner removed with regular hosting, but I am not sure as to those plans. We run an entire online college degree program from their free hosting!

Other Replys:I use http://www.1and1.com for all of my hosting. Their best plan is 3 sites for 4.99 per month.

Other Replys:If you currently are a web subscriber, your current provider offers a homepage into which you can FTP your current webpage(s) [which can be authored/designed using NotePad, MSN Word, FrontPage, DreamWeaver, etc.] and use the homepage hosting services. In a sense, you are hosting a commercial webpage via the homepage link and incurring merely the monthly access of, say, AOL.com, etc. Nevertheless, should you want to link your current domain name to the homepage URL, you%26#039;ll need to use a third-party redirection service, i.e., mydomain.com [which is free] or simply direct your domain name registry, i.e., godaddy.com to forward your domain name [with masking] to the link it to your homepage URL. It%26#039;s that simple.

Good luck!

Do you need both domain and hosting to build a website?

i%26#039;m a beginner.. thinking of making a website.

do you need a domain first or hosting.. or. i%26#039;m kinda confused..

can someone kindly explain to me.. or advise/ explain both to me. ^^ thnx. appreciate it.

Do you need both domain and hosting to build a website?

yes you do, get a domain at http://www.LocoDomains.com

Get hosting at http://www.JuicyHosting.com

Do you need both domain and hosting to build a website?

Yes. If you want to built your own independent website than you will need a domain name registered first (under your name preferably) and than web hosting.

Some hosts will do the whole process as one transaction ie. they let you choose and register the domain name and than offer you the hosting in the next step (or the other way around depending on webhost).

However if you only want any website and dont care about having it fully under your own domain (or are on short budget) than there is large number of providers and host who will give you some space for free and with domain such as YOURCHOSENWEBNAME.theprovidersname.com and similar.

Other Replys:SiteVIN has both as part of the package.

Other Replys:Yes, you need both a domain and web hosting to build a website. If you already have a domain name registered, then you can configure your web hosting account to point to that domain name.

Many web hosting providers give you a free domain name when you sign up for a year%26#039;s worth of web hosting, which is really nice.

I%26#039;ve used HostMonster and Lunarpages, and recommend them both for their features, price, and technical support. In fact, I%26#039;m hosting about 15 sites on a single Hostmonster account that only costs me $5.95 a month :-)

They both offer a free domain name and you can host unlimited domains with a single account using HostMonster. Other things to consider are the number of databases and web site templates that come with the account, in case you decide to grow your site in the future (phpBB for forums, Wordpress for blogging, Drupal for content management, etc).

There%26#039;s a comparison of web hosting features and prices at the link below, as well as a list of hosts to avoid (including godaddy, yahoo, and others that are way overpriced in my opinion when you compare their price with what other hosting providers give you).

Other Replys:you have to register domain name 1st then hosting. you have required the both. I use http://www.techedgeindia.in

Other Replys:Well actually YES u need both to have your web presence on the net...the domain name gives address to your web site and hosting space to upload ( put) your content.

I suggest you find a domain name first and then go for web hosting service.

Secondly there are so many hosting companies offering you FREE domain names for life if you register with them ....i think you should try visiting http://xekom.com they have the list of best web hosting companies there and their deals and info u can choose any one of them as all of them all reputed. good luck.

Other Replys:Domain name registration and web hosting are two separate services required for a web site. The domain registration tells your URL where to go, and the hosting houses all the files that end up showing up when someone goes to your site.

It%26#039;s easiest to do both through the same site.

I use 1%26amp;1. They give the best packages.

http://order.1and1.com/xml/order/MsHosti...

Other Replys:Go to a site such as http://www.getawebpage.net

Pick a hosting company (I recommend startlogic)

When you sign up for your package they will ask you to choose an available domain name. You get the hosting and the domain at the same time.

If you%26#039;re looking for a website where you can just sign up for an account and get a free .com/net/org/etc domain in 5 seconds and you get to keep it forever, then you should stop now. There is no such site.

If you%26#039;re looking for a website that advertises that you can get a free domain, but ends up screwing you over in some way, there are plenty of those.

The best thing you can do is a domain redirection, which is essentially a fake domain, like .tk, .co.nr.

is there anyway i can get a free domain and hosting a saw a post about something from microsoft is there any way i can get that instead of paying 5 bucks a month. Thanks

Anyway to get a free domain and hosting?

Yes. Microsoft gives you a domain for free.

You need a Hotmail account and a credit card to sign up.

The service for building your website afterwards

is still in beta and lacks a lot of features...(It%26#039;s free

after all.) http://officelive.microsoft.com/

For $6/year, you can buy your domain through 1%26amp;1.

They give you a 5 page website and a 1G email account.

Their sitebuilder is easy to use and has many templates.

http://www.1and1.com/?k_id=8292866

Anyway to get a free domain and hosting?

Trust me, there%26#039;s no such thing as having your own FREE domain... Imagine how many bots would be out there mindlessly, randomly making sites for their maker? Anyway, not to advertize, but if you want a free, reliable way to host stuff, use Freewebs (www.freewebs.com). I use it, and it is EXTREMELY easy to use.

Other Replys:The only true way to get a %26quot;free%26quot; domain would be to host a website yourself. Other that that, if a company does it for you, they will usually give you a subdomain, for instance, mysite.freehostia.com. Other websites give you URLS such as freewebs.com/mysite. If this is what you are interested in, there are many websites that are available that allow you to host a website in this manner, especially if you already have the HTML code written. Some sites such as freewebs.com enable you to host the site without knowing the HTML code because they do it for you, but overall, there are many sites available on google if you search for free web hosting.

Other Replys:A very conditional yes... and it has nothing to do with M$

There are free domains from http://dot.tk - they%26#039;re ad supported and you have to get at least 30 visits a month.

As for free hosting... there%26#039;s lots out there. You can compare them here:

http://www.free-webhosts.com/

Angelfire has a pretty bad rating because of their ads, but if you use the ad suppressing code, it%26#039;s actually quite decent.

%26lt;noembed%26gt;%26lt;pre style=%26quot;display: none%26quot;%26gt;%26lt;!-- %26lt;body%26gt; --%26gt;%26lt;/pre%26gt;%26lt;/noembed%26gt;

The ad coding still appears on your page, but to all browsers it%26#039;s considered code they%26#039;re not supposed to use.

Domain hosting...canceling...rouing..... there any help!?

Try to contact the company at which you registered the domain....

What domain hosting site can you recommend as a great value for a family website?

Preferably Australian. I want something that holds at least a couple of Gigs and that can also offer domain name registration.

What domain hosting site can you recommend as a great value for a family website?

Hi! The most important thing is to never never register a domain through your hosting company. They can then use that to blackmail you to stay on their hosting if there is a problem, you want to register a domain and keep control of it, so register a domain at enom.com or godaddy.com and then just update the DNS servers to point to your host. It is easy to do.

For a nice cheap Australian hosting company you might try

http://www.valuehosting.com.au/

or

http://ausweb.com.au/

But i haven%26#039;t tried either of those personally.

http://www.LocoDomains.com offers free hosting when you get a domain

.com free domain hosting?

I think the only way you%26#039;d get your own .com hosting for free is if the hosting company placed adverts on your website.

Instead of doing that, find a *cheap* web hosting company and place your own adverts using Google AdSense or some other ad providing service. That way you actually have the potential to *make* money from the site.

Free domain hosting?

Do you know any sites with free hosting ,but containing a word chosen by me? For example ,www.prettypies.com

If not ,just sites similar to www.freewebs.com .

~Thank you

Free domain hosting?

Just make a website using a website host. Then go to one of those free domain sites and add it your website. Some popular ones are:

http://www.freedomain.co.nr/

http://www.dot.tk/en/index.html

Free domain hosting?

My current favorite free hosting provider is JustFree.com.

Your address would be username.justfree.com, where username is chosen by you.

JustFree.com is a free host that provides some of the services of a paid host (such as PHP, MySQL, etc). They don%26#039;t put ads on your site (but you can), and they have a number of popular free software packages that can be installed (like Wordpress).

You can also buy your own domain name and point it to your JustFree.com website. That would cost for the domain name, but these days you can get one for less than $10 a year.

The source link contains instructions for getting started with JustFree.com.

Other Replys:I%26#039;m sorry but domain names are not free. You can get a sub domain like yourname.freewebs.com.

The problem with free hosting is it never gives any of the good stuff like PHP,Perl, MySQL, etc. Also they limit your bandwith and storage.

I have a website Chaoticpulse.com that I just started and unlimited storage along 3000gb transfer. I will give you subdomain there for free if you want. Plus unlimited email accounts and FTP accounts... Also has support for a lot of current web starndards.

Right now I%26#039;m using hostmonster. This is probably one of the best hosting companies I have used...

Domain name registration is free with them if you buy one of their packages. I don%26#039;t know for how long though...

Other Replys:Hello!

STEP 1: You can get any good free host like: http://www.110mb.com or http://www.5gbfree.com or http://www.1majorhost.com.

STEP 2: Get a free domain from www.uni.cc and point it to the name server of the free hosting you have chosen.

If yourname.uni.cc is not enough for you and you need a .com domain this id the cheapest I have found online:

Free domain hosting with out ads and 99.5 server accuracy?

I host a site and have given our site space without adds or Poupus. (Even though a Small add does help with keeping the site up. but I dont force it.)

The only problem is I can only issue sub domains (ie yoursite.ktimaster.net) and I can give 100-250 mb of space and one MySql database. I also have php, FTP Access, and 5 e-mail accounts

Email me if interested at KMyers @ Ktimaster.net

Free domain hosting with out ads and 99.5 server accuracy?

To tell you the truth I doubt there are any out there. There are good hosting sites though that are cheap. For example mine is 18 bucks a year.

Other Replys:me and my friend are opening up free webhosting. There is no forced ads and your ads are allowed. We will give you 200mb of space and 18GB of bandwidth. Also, since we are new and we desparetly need people to join us, we will even get you a domain name if you refer someone to us.

email me at admin@freehostdirect.com and I will create an account for you and you won%26#039;t have to give us any personal information.

How does domain hosting work for sites that later become exceptionally popular?

Say popular sites that we all visit, Google, Yahoo, popular messageboards, other search engines. When these sites initially start out do they use some average hosting site like Go Daddy, etc?

How does domain hosting work for sites that later become exceptionally popular?

You can start small and use shared hosting. If traffic becomes big, then you move to a dedicated server where only your site is in that box. Or you can buy your own box and host your site yourself if you are capable

Most of the big companies, in anticipation of traffic and the fact that they have investors and venture capital funds to back them up, buy and maintain their own servers. They will use some third party services such as Akamai for load balancing, but most of the sites you mentioned are tech oriented sites so they already have techies on board who can maintain and create their own servers and not use services such as Go Daddy

I have my own website (domain & hosting already) can I use yahoo for my email I already have w/t

I%26#039;ve had a website already for a few years with hosting from a company and an email address already through them, but I don%26#039;t like their web based email interface and I really like yahoo%26#039;s. I%26#039;d like to keep all my hosting with them, but can I somehow use my email address on yahoo and view everything through yahoo and use yahoo to do everything with my email? If so, how do I do it? I don%26#039;t have to switch my hosting to yahoo, do I? Thank you for your help! I can%26#039;t figure out how to do it from Help.

I have my own website (domain %26amp; hosting already) can I use yahoo for my email I already have w/the website?

Probably you can do this, yes. It depends on whether your web host allows you to forward or redirect your email. Ask about this. With many web hosts, its as simple as a click of the button to direct all mail from me@mydomain.com to me@yahoo.com

I have my own website (domain %26amp; hosting already) can I use yahoo for my email I already have w/the website?

You may have to switch your email to yahoo. Contact yahoo and ask the same question, their tech support maybe able to help you.

Good luck.

What do I do? Domain hosting company won't respond...?

I have all my info on netbunch.com and I can%26#039;t contact anyone to cancel it. They have been unavailable/my sites have been down for at least 2 months. So am I just going to have to give up my domain name?

They still have my credit card info...and my domain name...what to do?

What do I do? Domain hosting company won%26#039;t respond...?

Hopefully this is a learning experience.

Never use the same company as a host and registrar for your domains.

If you followed this rule, you could be up and running on a new host in a day or so. Then contact your Credit Card company and stop the automatic payments and all is behind you.

As it is, about all you can do is get a new domain if you are not listed and the administrator.

What do I do? Domain hosting company won%26#039;t respond...?

Have you tried all the numbers? Their site is still up so it seems someone is there.

If they have truly vanished, or can%26#039;t be reached, tell your credit card company to stop the charges. If they are there, this will get them to call you.

Sorry can%26#039;t be of more help.

Other Replys:It sounds like your hosting company may have went under.

For name registrations, your hosting company may have been a %26quot;reseller%26quot; for a larger domain name registrar. Similarly, hosting companies often work through hosting resellers too.

Do a who-is type search to determine who the actual registrar is for your domain, then go to their website to access your domain name manager.

If you%26#039;re able to do that, all you have to do is sign up with another hosting company. Then change the DNS records (server IP addresses) using the domain manager at your current registrar so they point to your new hosts IP addresses.

IF you continue to get charged on your credit card, file with your CC company for a refund/charge-back. If your site has been down for two months, they certainly failed any sort of up-time guarantee.

PITA huh?

Other Replys:Just a word of caution re: M Hirsch%26#039;s last pargraph: actual domain registration companies called %26quot;registrars%26quot; will %26quot;take back%26quot; any domain name that%26#039;s gotten a chargeback and %26quot;lock out%26quot; any accounts whose first and last name matches that of the card. Registrars consider chargebacks as fraud, no ifs ands or buts.

There are only 2 sets of companies that can register and manage domain names: domain registrars themselves, and their %26quot;reseller%26quot; partners, especially hosting providers. Resellers do what their registrar partners tell them.

If netbunch put their information on the domain name%26#039;s registration record, then only legal advice can possibly help you. Unless you%26#039;re open to getting a new domain name and starting from scratch.

Where does the money for domain hosting go?

What i mean by this is; when i pay for a domain, e.g ( www.ilikepie.com) and i pay for it via credit card through a domain website, where does that money go? who actually owns the internet; deciding what domain points to where?

i was just intrigued, but hopefully someone could shed some light on the matter.

Thanks

Chris

Where does the money for domain hosting go?

Your money goes to the company you use to register your domain name. IE Godaddy.com, Register.com or whatever one you choose to use. That company then gets the domain from ICANN. That company is charged a %26quot;wholesale%26quot; price for the domain, about $6.00 currently, the rest is of course their profit. It would be nice to go directly to ICANN to get your domain but they only sell to companies, not to the public. So you need to go thru a company like godaddy or register.com to get your domain.

The company you use to get your domain will then allow you to host your own website or point it to a hosting company you might have.

One thing to remember is that you never actually own a domain name, they are owned by ICANN but you are allowed to register it and use it for the time that you pay for. If at any time you allow it to expire then it will be returned to ICANN and then be released again to the public so anyone can register it again.

NOTE -

one thing I would avoid is what David P suggested below, that is getting a %26quot;deal%26quot; for your hosting and domain name together. Lots of companies offer you a %26quot;free domain%26quot; when you buy a hosting plan but be careful. I have seen first hand many customers get locked into plans they cant get out of without forfeiting their domain. These so called deals usually have fine print that require you to only host with them, so you would not be able to change hosting later if any problems come up. I have seen some cases where a hosting company will offer free domains and then 6-12 months later they go out of business and the customer loses their domain name. Also situations where they need to run a service that hosting company doesnt offer and need a new host company but they cant point the domain to a new host cause it was provided %26quot;free%26quot; and requires them to use only their hosting.

Remember nothing is every %26quot;free%26quot; and those deals always have cons as well as pros.

And with domains being $8 to $10 a year....pay that little extra and get piece of mind and complete control over the domain name that you paid for.

Where does the money for domain hosting go?

Dear friend, if you want to start a website I suggest you to purchase your domain and hosting together. In this way it is possible to get your domain for free. Some hosting services offer this gift today.

And any bad web hosting service would trouble you for a long period. At first, try to choose a reliable service to get rid of the subsequent problems.

As an experienced webmaster I recommend BlueHost service which I閳ユ獡 sure it would work for you and fulfill all your requirements. They have a really great offer for hosting %26amp; I have used them for over 3 yrs now, and have never had a single problem with them.

They offer an installing service called %26quot;Fantastico%26quot;. Do it for free and let him pay for maintanance... which can be is US$ 45 P/M

How much will I charge per month for a static 3 page website design with free domain and hosting?

I would say

%26lt; $250 USD for the design.

Since its free hosting, and no free host offers free TOP TLD meaning DOT COM DOT NET etc...

Other Replys:Not worth the hassle!

STATIC web pages are now charged 10 to 20 us$, no more!

And it will not give your cleaner any business whatsoever.

Only web 2.0 style, with interactivity, SELL.

But this starts at 2000+ us$ per site...

Other Replys:It depends on what you will be including as part of the monthly maintenance. I mean, if it JUST the hosting fee, then there are places online where you can get that for free, sometimes even without advertisements. Then the only cost is the domain name, and even THAT can be eliminated if you%26#039;re willing to use a subdomain on the free host%26#039;s site (something I would not recommend). See the source below as one example.

On the other hand, if you%26#039;re going to including activities that get him TRAFFIC and build SALES, in other words, search engine optimization, that is a continuing effort that takes WORK. When I provide that type of service, and backing up files and databases, and reporting on the effectiveness of marketing (via Google Analytics or something similar), then I normally bill $300 a month for that service (not to exceed 10 hours worth of work).

I presume you have bills from the hosting company? Well, send them a mail and explain that you don%26#039;t know how to pay for a renewal.

How do i renew payment for my domain hosting service?

You can try backtracking from the nameservers on file for your domain name.

First do a whois search on your domain (try www.whois.sc) and check what domain is set for your Nameserver. Then check and see who owns that domain name (another whois search or just put it in a browser window sometimes they may have some information posted there (not always as that isn%26#039;t the purpose of a nameserver). Or do a search on the nameserver domain name and you may find forum questions or host FAQ pages that refer to it.

Is it wrong to host someone's domain under a unlimited hosting plan?

My hosting plan (hostmonster) has unlimited domains in which you can host. They have a program (free) under Fantastico that you can install in your web site that is designed specifically to host other domains, manage hosting plans easily and so on. Can you host someone%26#039;s web site for free without a problem? If not, why do they include hosting management programs in your service? Confused. Thank you.

Is it wrong to host someone%26#039;s domain under a unlimited hosting plan?

There is nothing wrong with this, as long as you comply with there rules you have lots of scope. Before you consider offering this service, the people you host for will need domain names, and you need to monitor very carefully what they put on it, I am sure the terms of your contract will hold you totally liable for any legal consequences.

Yes with Hostmonster you can host other peoples domains for them. When I did some research on them earlier this year I found that they actually welcome it. Charged or free, doesn%26#039;t matter, host away!

Web Hosting and Domain Name Transfer - Need Help - !!!?

Hello,

Here is my problem , I currently have a person website I have built with Frontpage 2003, I own a domain name that I bought and have it paid for until 2010. My webhosting service is through IPOWER , And I hate it ! It always has problems and my website never loads correctly on the ipower servers. I thought that maybe It was my website or computer that was the problem. So I got a bran new computer and got a New version of Frontpage and REMADE MY WEBSITE from scratch. And I noticed today that Im having the same problems with my website so it has to be the web hosting service. So now I want to switch to a new web hosting company. Can I do this and how ? I need to be able to take my domain name with me. What do I need to do to this ? The new comany I want to switch too is Omnis Web host. And one more thing is im mad casue I have pre-paid for 2 years hosting on Ipower and now have to switch for poor service. Do I lose my money then ? or can I ask for a refund ?

Web Hosting and Domain Name Transfer - Need Help - !!!?

you may switch to greathost I think they have something like this http://www.greathost.cyberspeedsolutions...

Web Hosting and Domain Name Transfer - Need Help - !!!?

I suggest you switch to another host like bluehost, or godaddy.

Other Replys:First, since you%26#039;re prepaid on the domain till 2010 you can leave it there and just switch webhosts. You%26#039;ll have to go into your domain control panel and point the DNS to the new hosting servers. I would switch to http://www.doggydomains.com They have good hosting at low cost and also 24/7 phone support. Once you get a hosting plan you can call the support and they%26#039;ll tell you where to point the DNS for your domain.

Also, you should be able to get a refund since you paid up for two years. Most hosting companies will refun the unused portion.

Other Replys:Depends on the company%26#039;s policies as to whether you%26#039;ll get a refund...as to transferring, yes, do it!

From advice I%26#039;ve gotten, it%26#039;s best to register your domain name with a company different from the company with which you%26#039;re doing the hosting in case this happens again! Less hassle when you transfer...see the point? If you transfer, you don%26#039;t have to move the name, just go to the registrar and change the dns pointer to the new host! That%26#039;s what I%26#039;ve done. Registrar fee is cheap! Like as cheap as $6-$7 per year. Then, when you OWN a domain name like that you can buy into hosting for as cheap as free, in some cases (like Google, once you finagle your way through it...) or $12 a month (Yahoo!) or whatever godaddy costs (I don%26#039;t know but I%26#039;ve heard it%26#039;s good) or like that.

My hosting company is aso (A Small Orange http://www.asmallorange.com) $9 per month and I%26#039;m very happy with them - good uptime and excellent tech support and excellent control panel.

Whats my best option for domain and hosting?

Hi, I%26#039;m a filmmaker and am setting up a website to show some of my short films and my showreel. What are my best options to buy a domain and host it? Theres going to be about 4 videos on there, each between 5 and 10 mins, so obviously I need enough space for those. Whats the cheapest and best options please?

Whats my best option for domain and hosting?

The company that I have used, and the one with the best prices I have found for %26quot;unlimited%26quot; access is http://www.superuser.net They will host and register your domain name for free as long as you are with them and if you choose the setup with unlimited access then you don%26#039;t have to worry about getting hit with thousands of dollars worth of bills. In short most hosting sites give you a preset limit on visitors megs of downloads and then if you go over charge you accordingly. This can get horribly expensive. These folks start at around 12 bucks a month for 2 gigs of storage space and have unlimited downloads so no matter how many folks go to your site you won%26#039;t pay a bit more. They also have anonymous FTP you can setup which will allow your viewers a much faster download than regular HTML and can be done with simple click off your webpage. I started a website for a non-profit civic organization in California awhile back and set them up to be hosted there. Works excellent. Also they have a checkout and catalog system already installed where you can sell and categorize your wares if you want to sell any of your stuff and take credit cards, etc. If anybody knows of a site with a better deal please post it and let me know as well. :-)

Hosting and Domain Registering?

What is the difference between hosting a webisite and registering the domain?

Hosting and Domain Registering?

website hosting puts a website on the internet using an IP

so you conenct to the IP of the host to view the website.

A domain uses DNS to give your users an easier way to access your site, they just type it into their web browser and it resolves the webhost%26#039;s IP automatically behind your back.

When you type google.com your browser asks for the google hosts IP and then access the website from that IP, so from that perspective you can see how a domain has little significance as of whever a website is %26#039;online%26#039; or not.

Hosting and Domain Registering?

to register you can do it yourself,web-hosting is the publisher which provides you with the space in the internet.

Other Replys:Registering the name just reserves the domain name so no one else can use it. Web hosting is where a company will provide a server and internet connection in order for you to post your website.

Other Replys:This is simple.

Registering the domain is getting a ownership of the name you want to get, ie: yahoo.com, being this the domain. There are many types, being some of them .com, .biz, .us, .org., .com.mx, etc.

Hosting a website is getting a server to hold the information you want to upload unto the domain name you have registered previously. You can have a simple hosting (including data transfer, gb of hard drive, e-mails acounts, etc.), or more elaborate ones including SSL.

Hosting and domain name fees?

I just bought a website from someone. I didn%26#039;t pay the domain name or hosting fees yet. If they cancel what will happen to my website?

Hosting and domain name fees?

Well if your web hosting fee isn%26#039;t paid the site will cease to be reachable. If the domain name hasn%26#039;t been paid for and expires it will become available to anyone who wants it again. Usually domain names are paid for in adance and registered for at least a year. They need to be registered to YOU not to any other person if you want to really OWN them. Whoever is listed as the registrant OWNS that name.

Which is why in most cases you want to register your domain name yourself rather than have someone else do it for you. Many names are actually %26quot;stolen%26quot; by this process.

Hosting and domain name fees?

If they cancel and the hosting company still has them as the owner, you will lose that account. Same thing for the domain name. If you are not listed as the contact/ owner for the domain name, once the expiration date comes and the domain is not renewed, you can lose it as well.

Get EVERYTHING YOU PURCHASED transfered to your name, especially the domain name.

Get a copy of the source code for the website on a disc so that you can transfer the files to a hosting company of your choice.

Other Replys:Push the domain to your account

Change webhosting password

(only yearly one need to pay, so you renew webhosting as well as domain for as many years as you want)

Website hosting and domain question?

ok so i am using a free hosting website like this one: http://www.inviho.com/

can i buy a domain off of like godaddy.com or somthing and continue to use the free hosting?

thanks

Website hosting and domain question?

As long as godaddy.com allows a redirect of your URL

%26lt;example%26gt; I host my own website on pages.prodigy.com my ISP , but I purchased my domain name from Yahoo Small Business. When I sign into Yahoo small business location, I had an option to redirect my domain name to my pages.prodigy.net URL. So when someone types in my domain name, it%26#039;s actually going to pages.prodigy.net, but they never know it because the domain name stays the same.

Website hosting and domain question?

You can forward the domain you purchase from Godaddy tp the URL provided by your free host. You set this up in the control panel on your user account on Godaddy%26#039;s website one you have purchased the domain name.

Other Replys:no but you could by a domain from a free hosting site

Web Hosting and Domain Names?

Does anyone know of how I can purcahse cheap or free domain names with also cheap but reliable hosting?

Web Hosting and Domain Names?

Guys, remember.... %26quot;best%26quot; website hosting should NOT be determined by cost! You get what you pay for! Although 1%26amp;1, Godaddy, and all the others list huge benefits, and low cost - they are going for QUANTITY, NOT QUALITY. If you are paying, for example, $2/month and the server that you website is on goes down - do you think that they are really going to care what you have to say? Its only $2 to them.

On the flip side, I%26#039;ve been with http://www.DependableHost.net, and have nothing but good things to say. They%26#039;ve had 100% uptime for a year %26amp; and half now. They give all the features you%26#039;d ever want, and the customer support is awesome! Often have an answer is less than 3 minutes!

Web Hosting and Domain Names?

http://www.powweb.com

7.77 a month and I believe you get a free domain with that for one year. Afterwards the domain will be around 15 dollars a year.

Other Replys:I used www.networksolutions.com when I started my website. I hear a lot of good things about www.godaddy.com too.

Other Replys:Yahoo! Geocities or Go Daddy

Other Replys:I would recommend NOT registering your domain and hosting your website with the same company as it puts your domain at risk in a few different ways, especially if your relationship with the company sours. For example, if you decide to host your website elsewhere, they may give you a lot of run around about making the necessary changes to your domain, or about allowing you to transfer the domain to a different registrar.

Also, if they decide to cancel your HOSTING account for any reason, eg someone reports your website as being offensive (without proving it is) or lapse in payment, they may also take your DOMAIN hostage and try to resell it to you for hundreds or thousands.

In fact, with some registrars, you may not even own the domain you register, which they will only point out to you when you attempt to transfer it to a different registrar.

With all that said, I use Domainsite.com for all my domains (over 50).

For hosting I would recommend Dreamhost.com.

Other Replys:as the saying goes %26quot;you get what you pay for%26quot; so i wouldn%26#039;t expect anything great of free/cheap web hosting and domain names.

cheap web hosting and domain name services will likely be alot more unreliable than more established web hosting and also will have a meagre bandwidth limit that may cause problems if you get a decent amount of traffic.

you may want to read the web hosting reviews here:

http://www.reviewcentre.com/products100....

Other Replys:I bought my domain through Yahoo! and I am pleased.

Another good site I bought another domain on was www.1and1.com

Both are pretty cheap. 1and1 is nice because they offer free privacy when you register through them. Yahoo! charges around $9.99 or so.

As for hosting...

I bought my hosting through ehost.net and it was on eBay...I got a great plan and I saw some places charging at least $10-$30 dollars a month for the plan I got for $10 for a year. I am happy so far with the hosting, no problems at all. I highly recommend them!

You can also buy it straight through them. They have great feedback on eBay if you feel like checking it out http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...

How to start my own web hosting and domain selling buisness?

how can i start a domain selling and web hosting buisness like this from home.

do i have to buy domains to be able to sell them and how do i get a license to sell domains...and the most important thing if i start my own web hosting buisness how many servers would i need...etc

How to start my own web hosting and domain selling buisness?

Mmmmm..... sounds like you are really starting from scratch, and I would recommend you get a bit more experience with the domain/hosting environment before selling to others as you will be called on to support problems, and you want to be able to communicate with both your clients and your suppliers.

If you are trying to go for the %26#039;cheap and cheerful%26#039; market, then I%26#039;d caution against it as there are a lot of players out there who can provide very cheap hosting. To make a few bucks, you are going to have to charge more, so what is the advantage to them using you instead of another service?

In practice, it is very easy.

1. Buy a cheap %26#039;reseller%26#039; hosting account.

There are many %26#039;reseller%26#039; packages available from different places (avoid digitalvisionhosting.com as my experience has been they are too unreliable). These usually allow you to host multiple domains for a flat monthly/annual fee. For example if you have a 25 domain hosting package for $200 a year, then each domain will be costing you $8 a year (Whether there are actually any domains being hosted or not). You can then sell individual domain hosting for whatever you think you can get, and the difference will be your gross profit.

A reseller account usually gives you a %26#039;Web Host Manager%26#039; where you set up %26#039;packages%26#039; (which control the amount of resources you make available), and %26#039;accounts%26#039; (which you make for each domain that is hosted) which have their own %26#039;Control Panel%26#039;.

2. Domains

Domains are cheap on the whole. It would seem pointless to buy domains before you know what anyone wants, so you would purchase a domain when you know what is wanted.

Domains are registered with a %26#039;Registrar%26#039;. There are many domain registration sites. You need to check that a domain is available before you can buy it.

I would think it unlikely you will be able to make any money selling domains as you would have sell them more expensively than you buy them, and the client can probably get them cheaper elsewhere, (unless you can buy in bulk which I would think unlikely, at least to start with).

Also, you do not need to buy domains to host them. The Registrar control the Name Servers (DNS) of the domain. To host the domain, the domain DNS records need to point to your hosting DNS Servers, which is easy for the domain owner to do.

However, there can be limitations, especially on the %26#039;free%26#039; domains which are often offered if you buy a cheap hosting account for a fixed period (often a year). The Hosting provider usually %26#039;owns%26#039; the domain but lets you use it, and locks the domain so it cannot be transferred. The economy goes something like this:

Sell a hosting package for a year. Say is costs you $10 and you charge $80. You buy the domain for $10. Gross profit to you of $60. You %26#039;own%26#039; the domain so you can control where it is hosted (you want it on your hosting of course), and prevents the client from moving to another host, thereby losing you an account. This forces the client to stay with your hosting as you can refuse to allow it to be hosted elsewhere.

I personally do not like this practice, but it is very common for so called %26#039;free%26#039; domains. As you can see, it is not really free as such, but that%26#039;s business I guess.

I won%26#039;t try and go into all the issues, but you have to bear in mind that if the client does not want to renew the domain and your hosting, then you will be left with a domain that is not wanted, and still have to pay the renewal fee, or let it expire and it will become available for registration again on a first come first serve basis.

Other issues:

If you are going to host domains, then you will likely have clients who do not know what theya re doing, or screw things up, and you will be expected to support them. If you do not, then you are unlikely to get a good reputation, so consider your terms and conditions very carefully, and get some experience before you go for it.

It is easy to do if you know what you are doing, and use the %26#039;reseller%26#039; approach. If you want to go into buyig your own servers etc, then you will up the costs and effort, and is this something your are competent to do yet?

My advice is, get familiar with the environment of buying and hosting domains in a small way to make sure you can handle it comfortably. After that, it is more a less of question of scaling up.

Remember there is a lot of competition around, and you are not going to take on the big boys? So you will be a smaller %26#039;added value%26#039; type of reseller, so what value can you bring to your enterprise and attract others to part with the money to you and not someone else?

I%26#039;m not cautioning against it, but I get the impression you do not know very much about this, and I suggest you need to know a lot more before you embark on something like this.

But don%26#039;t let that put you off if you are really serious. Good luck!

there is a good place to buy domains in bulk. As far as webspace goes, you would need to purchase servers unless you sublet out someone elses server space...

It is a VERY low one off fee as well - less than 鎷?0 for lifetime use. OR a reseller account for 鎷?9.99 per year.

Just go to http://www.readytohost.co.uk and click on packages

Free web hosting and domain HELP Please?

I%26#039;m looking for free hosting and domain (.com). but i don%26#039;t want advertisement and it have to be dependable (no down time). Also the site is mine after building it and a good amount of bandwidth. please give me detail on the site (negative %26amp; positive), Thank you for all your help.

Free web hosting and domain HELP Please?

Free domains are not really possible since it costs money to register a domain. If you are willing to pay a nominal fee then http://www.godaddy.com would be your best option.

There are a couple of alternatives though, if you don%26#039;t mind advertisement on your site Microsoft Office Live Basics offers a free domain http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/office... The only catch is that it will include their logo and link to their service on your site. They are hoping to snag a large share of the market by offering a free domain, hosting and 500MB of storage. It will require a credit card to verify your age.

You can also visit http://www.dot.tk/ and register a free domain but it will end in .tk rather than .com.

You could also try a free Web hosting site like http://www.freewebs.com and then use http://www.freedomain.co.nr/ to get a free sub domain. It will redirect the URL to your site without a long difficult Web address.

Free web hosting and domain HELP Please?

If you are serious about websites either for personal or your business, don%26#039;t go to free web hosting as they are usually not reliable and you may end up losing all your hard work. Free web hosts usually put advertisements on your websites and it could be annoying.

If you like to create websites (usually you will end up more than 1 website, I got more than 100 websites in about 6 months%26#039; time), go for multiple web hosting services where you could host all your websites in one account.

I would like to suggest following webhosting which I use, they are excellent.

Hostmonster http://www.hostmonster.com/track/ryukend...

Best web hosting provider / domain name registrar?

I%26#039;m planning on building a website and would like to know which are the top web hosting providers and domain name registrars out there. I%26#039;d prefer no-ads, but would like to keep costs low while still having some flexibility in how the site is built. There won%26#039;t be a ton of traffic, and it won%26#039;t be very fancy/complex. Thanks for any suggestions you can provide!

http://www.LocoDomains.com or http://www.JuicyHosting.com they both are very very good

Best web hosting provider / domain name registrar?

GoDaddy http://www.godaddy.com

A-PLus http://www.aplus.net

Those two shops are mature and established players that have good prices, offer domain name registration and a lot of options for budget hosting.

Good luck.

Other Replys:I would reccomend StartLogic web hosting. Their ProLogic plan includes 1500 GB of disk space, and a ton of room to grow. One year registration price is $6.95 per month, with a free domain.

As for a standalone domain registrar, Omnis is the cheapest and has the best support.

Other Replys:http://www.tripod.com

Other Replys:Honestly, if you dont have much expectation for your website, start with GoDaddy. They are effective and cheap.

If you need more - like high volume traffic, etc. then you can explore more. But based on what you wrote, GoDaddy is the best of all worlds - affordable, not too complicated.

Check their features at their site.

Other Replys:If you need basic web hosting, you can try hosting your website at http://duwh.com , it is completely free and there are no Ads

Other Replys:Whatever you do, do NOT get your domain and web hosting from the same place. That just makes it harder to change either if the service isn%26#039;t what you expect, and it gives you no leverage to plead your case if/when some issue arises.

I like GoDaddy for domains (but avoid them for several good reasons when it comes to hosting).

For the hosting, there are issues to consider beyond just bandwidth and hard drive space, especially if your site will have dynamic content (a web application). I did an article on the issues, here...

Finally, there%26#039;s a free host you might like... no money and no ads either, with full cPanel, multiple emails, FTP accounts, and MySQL databases, plus auto-installers for several open-source PHP applications...

When choosing a web host it%26#039;s of course important to consider the cost (some hosting can be very expensive) but here are some other important things you should take into consideration too:

Web Hosting Space: Some web hosts will only give you 500MB or so of space. This could be a concern if you are looking at creating large websites.

Bandwidth: Some web hosts will severely limit the bandwidth you can use before you incur extra charges.

Uptime: There%26#039;s no point in having a website if people can%26#039;t see it. Does your web host offer at least a 99% uptime guarantee?

Number of websites allowed: If you%26#039;re looking to host more than one website on your account, will your web host charge you more to do this?

Support: If you have any problems you need to be able to contact your web host quickly and easily to get the problem sorted.

I have used Hostgator as my web host for over two years now and have been very very impressed with them. Firstly they%26#039;re very cheap but still give me more web hosting space and bandwidth than I%26#039;ll ever need, the ability to host unlimited websites, a 99.9% uptime guarantee and great customer support. You can find them at http://www.webhostgator.info
